This weekend I am in Fresno visiting family and friends. Its been a fun and busy one to say the least. My friend Jeff was kind enough to loan me his Honda Civic so I could get around.
Before he gave it to me he showed me how the drivers door window gets jammed and you have to reach in the door to give it a little push so that it goes all the way up. To do this he has removed the door panel and now its just a area of open metal and glass.
Ok, so you have the set up. I go visit Jeff at his workshop (that has a security gate with a key code... Remember this little factoid please..) As nine O'clock rolls around I say my goodbyes and go to leave. As I get up to the gate I reach into the bottom of the door and hit the window "down" switch with my left hand and reach for the gate code key thingy with my right...
WHIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... The window goes DOWN.... FAST!
In a matter of seconds I feel my first two fingers on my left hand go SQUISH!!!
"OH! NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO!!!" OW!!!
The window had come down and caught my fingers in between the bottom rail (which was sharp) and the window controller!! And to top it off the controller was then sucked down into the bottom of the door. Which meant that the button I need to put the window back up is effectively blocked! Mean while the window is still trying to go down and every time I try to move to free my rapidly flattening fingers the window goes WHIRRRRRR and attempts to go down further!
By now I am hyper-ventilating and starting to panic. To top it off I can not open the door since the window is now down and the bar that I need to pull to open it is now blocked by the newly lowered window.
To top it all off the keypad that I originally wanted to use is going "beeeeep... beeeep... beep..."
"Ok, you can't just sit here fat-boy..." I think. Whenever I move the door comes that much closer to breaking my fingers and I can feel the pressure building from them being crushed. I'm beginning to sweat now.
My only chance is to pull the out sideways as fast as I can and try to keep the window from coming down any more(sounds stupid and crazy right?). So I take a deep breath and start to move my hand. Its not easy as it is caught on a nail and in a vice like grip.
"beeeeep... beeeep... beep..."
PULL! GRUNT! OW! OW! OW!
WHIRRRRRRR!!!
POP!
My hand slips free and I yank it out as the window comes the rest of the way down. Now I am about to black out! After a round of deep breathing I put the car in reverse and go back to the work shop and put it on ice. Jeff is kind enough to inform that he had warned me about getting my hand caught (He had in all honesty) and that he himself had done the same thing a few times...
Nothing is broken but I think I will be loosing a nail on my first finger....
OW...

That Jeff has booby traps for everything, doesn't he?
