Food and holiday hangover...

It's a very Wii Christmas!

We are at Amanda's grandma's house and look what we got! I'm thinking there is a Wii waiting somewhere for us... Or Amanda will have no excuse for not getting one now..

Meili is our co-pilot

Meili is our co-pilot, originally uploaded by josiahbadger.

It took almost an hour to get the truck moving this time. Now we are in Indiana on the first leg of our five hour drive. Meili has found herself a perch so she can see whats going on.

Twas the week of ice and cold.

Yesterday the guy on the radio said these words -

"Expect a high today of zero and a windchill of negative thirty degrees..."

You know what? It felt colder... Today was a little better with highs in the single digits. Yay!!!

Wednesday we go to Ohio for the holidays. Looks like the snow will clear for our drive there, I have no idea about the way back.

I got a profile on the Playground Theater site, looks like I have a show to be involved in now, which is nice since in Los Angeles I had at least a show a week sometimes more and here I sit in my house a lot...

Not much else to report... Except it was SO much fun getting our truck out of the snow and ice, if it were not for the kindness of Roscoe Village strangers we would still be stuck there.

Cheers everyone! Happy holidays!

Living low key

Friday was finally my last holiday party with work. We had 5 and I attended 4 of them. I'm partied out. This party was an open house at the chief's house. After leaving there, Alan, Kristin, Lisa, Mike, Peter, and I went drinking in Oak Park. While following Kristin home, we say a man laying in the gutter. Kristin and I conferred over text and decided that Alan and I would go back to check on the man. He was no longer there. Hope that it was not a scam to car jack, but at the same time hope he wasn't hurt.

Saturday was a mix of household chores and relaxing at home. With weather predictions of wind chills well below zero, we chose to stay home and play some Rummikub to avoid that bitter cold. Fell asleep early for a Saturday.

Today it's -3 last I checked. Meili won't walk because the ground is too cold. We're all snuggled in the living room watching Disney movies and surfing the web. Tonight is fondue at the Zera's with Johnny and Kathryn. Hopefully the temp goes up tomorrow. It's going to be a long ride on public transportation tomorrow if it warm up a bit.

Happy holidays to everyone if we don't see you or talk to you before then!

Let it snow... Let it snow... Let it snow...

8 to 10 inches of snow last night..

Snow Dog

My new hat makes me look like Snoopy!

It's 10pm and like zero degrees here. I just did my last 404 class at Comedy Sportz and now waiting for the train with my AWESOME NEW HAT!

Meili hates the rain...

Could a dog look more miserable? She is ok with snow but hates the rain and her rain coat.

We went to a Bulls game!

Tonight Amanda scored four tickets to the Bulls game and we had a great time! Bryan and Sarah used the other two tickets and we also won Big Macs since the Bulls won and scored over 100 points!YAY!!! Fun night!

Obama Change Collection

So Amanda was part of a gift exchange at work and she received this -

obama_coins.jpg
Now I am not making fun of the person that gave the gift (that would be rude and it is well known at Amanda's work that we went to the Obama rally so some good thought may have gone into this) But to read the spin they put on this -

"The First Presidential Dollar bearing the likeness of the "First African American President. In 2007 the United States Mint introduced the new Presidential Dollars series a collection celebrating each non-living U.S. President on a golden Dollar coin.  Four coins are issued each year so the minting schedule for each coin is limited to only about three months - this First 2007 Presidential Washington Dollar is no longer being struck by the United States Mint, making it a appropriate keepsake for another historic moment in Presidential history."

You can read it all here >>

Now this is not un-common, I remember the plates that they put out after Reagan got elected (and there have been a few of those released also with Obama on them) but come on!

"The First Presidential Dollar bearing the likeness of the "First African American President".

Really? Its a sticker on a US dollar coin... PA-LEEZE!

In other news we are going to a Bulls game tonight through Amanda's job. Bryan and Sarah are coming too, so that should be fun. Its cold here and windy.. Good weather to stay in and warm.

Our Christmas tree is up.

We finally took the 800lb AC unit down to storage and brought up our tree and decorations. Amanda has a wonderful selection of decorations and now our home feels VERY much in the spirit of the holidays. We also got to hang some of the ornaments that we got on our trip to Chicago including the Pekingese angel and a leather turtle that we got at the Crazy Horse monument.

As reported in my last post we had our three year anniversary and as is our tradition we went to The Cheesecake Factory (Yay!) we also got my wedding band. I had intended us to get Amanda's band but we ran into a hitch getting one that would fit with the diamond ring we may have to get some custom work done.

ring.jpgAmanda had received enough bonus points that we could get a $400.00 ring for $33.00 (Not bad!) now we will work on hers.

As another bonus we filled up the truck at the end of the night and it only cost $20.00!!! Not bad considering that this summer we were paying nearly a $100 a tank.

Then to cap off the night we had a unexpected surprise visit from one of our Fresno friends Renee! She came over with her new guy James. They make a cute couple and it was a nice way to end an evening.

Russel and David swing into Chicago

davidandrussel.jpg
So our friends from Fresno Russel and David had a layover at the train station and we met up with them for a few hours. It was nice to see them.

In other news Amanda and I are celebrating three years together this weekend with our traditional trip to the Cheesecake Factory. Also Amanda has accumulated enough bonus points that we can get her wedding band! (Yay! Free wedding band!) Then Sunday we are going to decorate our house for Christmas.

Its getting pretty cold now today is a high of 25 degrees with a 1 degree windchill. Meili is doing pretty good with the cold (much better than I thought she would) and even lolli-gags around trying to drag out the walk and get as much time outside as she can. Although this morning she got right to her business and then wanted to go inside. So I guess she is no fool.

I have a show at Comedy Sportz in a few weeks -

404.jpgSo that should be fun. I only have two more levels to go and then I will a grad of another program. After I am done with Comedy Sportz I will take a break until after the wedding and honeymoon. Then I will do the Annoyance program. From there we will see where Amanda's job takes her. If we end up here one more year then I will do Stepphenwolf Theater.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season!
